Nicole received her PhD in Microbiology from UC Berkeley, where she studied bacterial genetics and cell biology in the lab of Arash Komeili.  Prior to that, she received her MS in Cell & Molecular Biology at San Francisco State, where she worked with Susan Lynch at UCSF studying human host associated bacterial communities.  

She joined the lab in 2015, where she is interested in studying how shifts in community composition affect interactions and nutrient sharing in a microbiome.
